Canine Plant Medicine

Applied zoopharmacognosy for dogs

Canine Plant Medicine specialises in Applied Zoopharmacognosy for dogs. Applied Zoopharmacognosy offers a holistic approach to canine health and wellbeing, supporting both the physical and emotional body. The method is based on an animal's innate ability to self-medicate with plants that they have coevolved with. Since most domestic and captive animals do not have access to the diverse range of plants required for effective self-medication, Applied Zoopharmacognosy brings these natural remedies back to the animals in the form of essential oils, dried herbs and aromatic waters.

Who can benefit from applied zoopharmacognosy?

Applied Zoopharmacognosy benefits anyone who wants to support the wellbeing of their dog, be it in a preventative or therapeutic manner. We are happy to support you and your dog in any situation with the exception of conditions that require acute veterinary treatment. However, we take particular interest in the following areas as we find these are where Applied Zoopharmacognosy can provide the most substantial benefits:

  • Chronic medical conditions that are insufficiently controlled with conventional veterinary treatment

  • Behavioural issues that persist despite professional behavioural intervention

  • Palliative and end of life care

We offer Applied Zoopharmacognosy sessions in person or via zoom. Please read our information about Applied Zoopharmacognosy and Treatment Fields to find out more.

In-person consultations are offered within 30 minutes travelling distance of a practitioner. Additional travel fees may apply for longer journeys. In-person consultations are currently offered in the North County Dublin and Wexford Town regions.

Note:  Our practitioners are not yet fully qualified and treatment is currently only offered as part of their ongoing training. Reduced rates apply. Please get in touch for more information.
